Frank Hunter - White Goddess (1959)

This is another request from a supporter. "White Goddess" by Frank Hunter from the year 1959 is a perfect example of Exotica crossing over to the Space Age by using new electronic instruments of that time. Chromatic bongos and log drums, the "Buzzimba" and Chinese bells sit with wordless female swoons and Ondioline in a small orchestra and do the job. 8 of the 12 titles are original compositions, and standards like "Poinciana" and "Jungle Drums" add up to a nearly perfect record. That should give you a hint of the quality of this work, which made this record one of the holy grails of Exotica music. Very hard to find, but now the search has ended.

Thanks a bunch! If anyone's interested hearing digital versions of three of these tracks (Ritual of the Torch, Poinciana, and Zimbah!), they are available on volume 2 of 'Music for a Bachelor's Den - Exotica' (DCC 092) wonderfully remastered by Steve Hoffman. The Frank Hunter version of Poinciana (my favorite exotica tune) is mistakenly labeled as being by Robert Maxwell. That version is available on 'Cigar Classics - Volume 4 - Smokin' Lounge'. Enjoy the music.

Pinicchio, by making "White Goddess" available, you have done the world of exotic lovers a great service. I have enjoyed "Ritual of the Torch" for years on the CD mentioned in the previous comment and it is such a privilege to now own the rest of this out-of-print musical gem. Thank you again so much.

THANK YOU! I, too, have been wanting a copy of this for a long time. This is great. I'd put it in my top 10 of all time great Exotica albums. The track "White Goddess" is simply beautiful.

I would appreciate a repost of this more than you can know. What can I give you in return? Les Baxter's sacred idol? I dunno, please please please! And thanks in advance! :) JP

There´s a link to my wishlist on top of the page. If you don´t have any of these records, maybe you´ll consider using the Wishing Well just a few lines underneath?
