Bert Kaempfert - Safari Swings Again (1977)

Ich habe vor ein paar Tagen in einem anderen Blog das Album "A Swingin´ Safari" von Bert Kaempfert gesehen. Schon wieder. Das ist natürlich ein großartiges Album, voller Klassiker, aber jeder kennt es und hat es, richtig? Auch hier in meinem kleinen Blog habe ich das mal vorgestellt, das ist aber schon ein paar Monate, wenn nicht gar Jahre her... Die wenigsten wissen, dass Bert Kaempfert 15 Jahre nach Veröffentlichung der Swingin´ Safari das Thema noch einmal aufgegriffen hat. Der große Erfolg blieb diesem Album zwar versagt, aber es steht dem ersten Safari-Album qualitativ in nichts nach: Neun Eigenkompositionen, eine Prise Klassiker ("Baby Elephant Walk"), viele Flöten und perfekte Arrangements zeichnen auch diese Platte aus. Bert war einfach der Größte, und auch Sie sollten sich dieses Album zulegen. Vorher dürfen Sie aber noch an der Hausschuh-Safari teilnehmen. Ich hoffe, ich habe das einigermaßen adäquat übersetzt, bezeichnet doch "soft-shoe" den Stepptanz mit Schuhen ohne Metallkappen, so bei "Mr. Bojangles" von dem einzigartigen Sammy Davis Jr., der das Stück zwar nicht geschrieben, aber am besten interpretiert hat. Nun, wie auch immer: Lehnen Sie sich zurück und genießen Sie Berts Safari für Daheimgebliebene. Sollte Ihnen das Stück bekannt vorkommen - nun, es ist eben ein Bert-Kaempfert-Stück, der Wiedererkennungswert ist immens hoch. Viel Vergnügen...

I always wanted to present you this album from 1962, because it is one of Bert´s best albums ever. It was so good, that he released another African-sounding album named "Safari Swings Again" in 1977. Unfortunately the follow-up was not such a big success as this one. You may know this tune from the radio, maybe from other artists, who covered this great piece of music, but here´s the one and only original Bert Kaempfert, who actually wrote this song. James Last - Voodoo Party (1971)

Finally! I got it, YES! Thanks to Gary from Soundsational! This is really a fantastic record. Strange, when you listen to "Mr. Giant Man" or "Voodoo Ladys Love". I think they took some drugs when recording this, but what kind of? If you know what they took, please let me know...

But even if you´re still drug-free, I highly recommend this record!

Les Baxter - African Jazz (1959)

Bert Kaempfert - That Happy Feeling (1962)

This is a great record to celebrate Germany´s national holiday. One of the greatest german composers was Bert Kaempfert, who was born in Hamburg. He died all of a sudden 1980 from a heart attack. He wrote songs like "Spanish Eyes" (made poular by Al Martino) and "Strangers in the Night" (made popular by Frank Sinatra). This record from 1962 features some of his original tunes, amongst them is the all-time favorite "A Swingin´ Safari", made popular by Billy Vaughn and his Orchestra. Here it is, the unique and all-original Bert Kaempfert! And believe me: You cannot resist that happy feeling! :o)
